🎨 Call for Artists: 

Celebrate Latino Heritage in Berwyn! 🎨
Total Estimated Project Cost to cover artist fees, mural supplies and equipment (if needed), workshop supplies: $16,000.00

Project to be completed no later than end of July, 2025

We’re looking for passionate artists that would like to create the public art piece for "Arte y Cultura” and have the desire to engage with the community and collaborate on meaningful public art.

👩‍🎨 What We’re Looking For:

• Artist will participate in setting the project timeline. 

• The artist(s) will conceive a mural based on community input. 

• We are looking for artists with experience painting outdoor, large scale murals.

• Language Requirement: English, Spanish a plus

• The artist(s) will need to help develop workshops and/or feedback sessions. Experience working with community input is a plus but not required.  

• Community involvement during the installation of the mural is a plus but not required.

💫 What to Expect:

• Participate in mural workshops with local residents

• Contribute to a cultural celebration that fosters community connections

• Create art that amplifies the voices and stories of Berwyn’s Latinx/o/e residents

Selection Process:

3-5 artists will be selected and notified, at which time we ask for a short statement on how you envision, based on your creative process, the community involvement in the project. 

In an online poll we will introduce the artists along with their portfolio and statement and the Berwyn community will vote on which artist they would like to lead the creative vision of “Arte y cultura.”

Buscamos artistas apasionados a los que les gustaría crear la obra de arte público para «Arte y Cultura» y que tengan el deseo de comprometerse con la comunidad y colaborar en un arte público significativo.

👩‍🎨 Lo que buscamos:

• El artista participará en el establecimiento del calendario del proyecto. 

• El artista o artistas concebirán un mural basado en las aportaciones de la comunidad. 

• Buscamos artistas con experiencia en la pintura de murales al aire libre a gran escala.

• Idiomas requeridos: Inglés, español un plus

• El/los artista(s) tendrá(n) que ayudar a desarrollar talleres y/o sesiones de feedback. Experiencia trabajando con la comunidad es un plus pero no es requerido.  

• La participación de la comunidad durante la instalación del mural es una ventaja pero no un requisito.

💫 Qué esperar:

• Participar en talleres de murales con residentes locales

• Contribuir a una celebración cultural que fomente las conexiones comunitarias

• Crear arte que amplifique las voces y las historias de los residentes Latinx/o/e de Berwyn

Proceso de selección:

De 3 a 5 artistas serán seleccionados y notificados, momento en el que pedimos una breve declaración sobre cómo se imagina, en base a su proceso creativo, la participación de la comunidad en el proyecto. 

En una encuesta online presentaremos a los artistas junto con su portfolio y declaración y la comunidad de Berwyn votará sobre qué artista les gustaría que liderara la visión creativa de «Arte y cultura».
